Combining AR, AR, and panoramic video experiences into one application "FREA AR/VR Research Guide" @ Fukushima Renewable Energy Institute, AIST (FREA)

The Fukushima Renewable Energy Institute, AIST (FREA) is Japan’s research center for environmentally friendly renewable energy. There are many visitors from all over the world, from VIPs to children.
The researchers’ problems were that there were research facilities in the ground or on top of the tower, making it difficult for visitors to see them directly and that there were also places where it was difficult to enter such as clean rooms.
They also found it difficult to explain their research to visitors in an easy-to-understand manner.
The FREA AR and VR Research Guide is an application developed to address these challenges.

It's intuitive

Virtual experience of climbing up to a real windmill and traveling to the ocean

A variety of special equipment is installed in FREA’s research wind turbines. You can actually use these devices to experience research.
How do wind turbines and wings change when the wind speed and direction are changed?
What happens when you move a special plasma device on the wing? Visitors try to find the answers themselves.

This is one of the things you can never do. Climb over a real windmill. You can enjoy a 360 degree panorama 41.5 meters above the ground.
You can also take a tour of wind power generation and offshore wind power generation in the future. You can fly between windmills on the open sea.
