The Fukushima Renewable Energy Institute, AIST (FREA) is Japan’s research center for environmentally friendly renewable energy. There are many visitors from all over the world, from VIPs to children.
The researchers’ problems were that there were research facilities in the ground or on top of the tower, making it difficult for visitors to see them directly and that there were also places where it was difficult to enter such as clean rooms.
They also found it difficult to explain their research to visitors in an easy-to-understand manner.
The FREA AR and VR Research Guide is an application developed to address these challenges.

The FREA AR and VR Research Guide offers three types of experiences: “Wind power VR experience” “Underground heat system AR experience” and “VR experience on integrated solar cell production line”.
